After our morning tour around Oxford, we were shuttled off to The Manor for lunch before the next activity of the day. Upon first glimpse of the place, I can’t help but look at the exterior of the hotel in awe, admittedly, I’m quite a sucker to this type of architecture lol – like Mercure Warwickshire, it looks like a place straight out of a historical period drama like Downton Abbey!
Then there’s me, literally pointing out the building! 😀
There are various Belgo branches around London but the one we went to was in Noord in Camden Town. This was the first restaurant we dined in upon arrival to London.
The interior of the place is quite nice, however to get to the dining area, we had to climb a short flight of stairs – which isn’t really that much trouble, although the way was a bit dim.
I especially love the well-lit (and colourful, haha) bar area. They have a lot of beers on the menu (around 70! They have tons of beers from draught pilsners to white and Trappist ales), but since none of us really fancy alcohol, we didn’t order any and stuck to good ol’ water and soda.
If you’re planning on taking a quick trip to Hong Kong, I personally think that one of the best hotels that you can stay at would have to be Novotel Citygate, located at Tung Chung.
The room we got was their Superior room with two twin beds.
I usually don’t do much on my birthday as I don’t really hold a celebration or anything like that. However, this year I wanted to celebrate it, and for a few months I have been looking as to how I can do it in a way that I can help and maybe, bring joy to other people’s lives.
Stumbling upon U!Happy Events’ website, I looked through their previous events and programs and seeing how well-organised they were, I decided to create my own event for my birthday with their organisation.
I chose to hold my early birthday celebration at Hospicio de San Jose. You might be asking why Hospicio? For starters, this is the orphanage that we, though not really that frequently, donate old clothes and toys and other such items throughout the years.
Ever since our first visit to Wong Tai Sin around two years ago, it’s one of the places we almost always never fail to visit when we’re in Hong Kong. Also, since the MTR stop to get to Wong Tai Sin is on the same line as Prince Edward and Mongkok, we would, more or less, always make a side trip to to visit the temple as well. 😀
Something that I like about Wong Tai Sin is the fact that there’s a mall nearby so you can easily find a place to eat before or after your visit to the temple. During our last visit, before heading to the temple we went to Temple Mall and ate at Shanghai Teng – one of the various Chinese restaurants that can be found in the area.
Pizza Express is one of the restaurants that I’ve often seen around the UK during our trip there. If I’m not mistaken, it’s also one of the well-known chains hailing from the UK. It was founded by Peter Boizot in 1965 with around 400 restaurants open alone in the UK and 40 overseas in Europe, Hong Kong, India, the Middle East, and soon in Manila, Philippines!
Having read the news that they were going to open in Manila, and being a pizza fanatic myself, I knew then that I just had to try it out! Though I wasn’t able to try Pizza Express at their home court in the UK, I was lucky that there’s one close by in the hotel that we were staying at during our trip to Hong Kong. I was able to try some of their dishes and honestly, from what I’ve been able to try, I can’t wait for Pizza Express to open up here in the country! ❤
There are two ibis hotels in Hong Kong. One is located at North Point and the other is located at Central & Sheung Wan. Looking at various reviews, we opted to stay at the latter as though the North Point branch may be cheaper, the ibis in Central and Sheung Wan has rooms with a view overlooking the Victoria Harbour and for an affordable price too and that is what, more or less, sealed the deal for us.
The room we opted for was the Harbour View Room. It’s little, but as there were only two of us, we had more than ample amount of space to move around. Also!! Look at that pretty view. ❤
